The Science of Learning Research Centre is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the International Science of Learning Conference – Research to Reality in Brisbane, Australia, from the 18th to the 20 September this year.
The 2017 International Science of Learning Conference – Research to Reality will provide an opportunity for cognitive and brain researchers, educational researchers, and neuroscientists to present and share their latest research findings into the science for learning and for education, to discuss what these findings mean across the respective disciplines from cognitive and brain research to education, and to consider the challenge of how these findings may be applied in learning and education.
The program will feature international Keynote and Invited speakers, invited Symposium Sessions on research programs from laboratory-based brain sciences to application in education practice or policy, as well as oral and poster presentation sessions selected from submitted abstracts.
The call for abstracts for posters and presentations is now open.
Understanding Learning – neuroplasticity, brain development, memory formation and consolidation, attention and perception, language, higher order cognition
Readiness for Learning – Social and emotional development, student well-being, anxiety, the learning environment, student engagement, family engagement, student and community identity
Promoting Learning – a collaborative approach, technology and digital learning environments, curriculum development, assessment and feedback, confusion and error.
The 2017 International Science of Learning Conference follows from the previous Science of Learning and Science for Education conferences in Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, and Paris. It will bring together leading researchers in the science of learning from around the world, including the United States NSF Science of Learning Network Centers, the International Bureau of Education UNESCO, the Australian Science of Learning Research Centre, University of Hong Kong Science of Learning, and the Brazilian Network for Science in Education. The final day will feature a public forum sharing and discussing science of learning research particularly with policy makers and educators.
The Australian Science of Learning Research Centre, a Special Research Initiative of the Australian Research Council, was established in 2013. The Centre brings together 25 of Australia’s leading researchers in neuroscience, education and cognitive psychology from across the country, collaborating on programs to better understand learning, using innovative experimental techniques.
A relaxed casual river city, Brisbane is unpretentious and has an easy-going attitude. It’s sub-tropical climate presents a warm and welcoming destination throughout the year. During the months of spring (September to November), the average temperature ranges between 15-25oC (59-77oF).
Getting to Brisbane is easy and convenient. The International Airport has direct flights daily from the United States, Europe and Asia. The airport is a 20-minute taxi ride from the conference venue, and there is a train service from the airport. https://airtrain.com.au/
The are many hotels close by at Southbank or just a short stroll across the river in the Brisbane CBD. The Rydges Hotel at Southbank connects directly with the Convention Centre.
For people attending satellite meetings at The University of Queensland, the university is a pleasant 30 minute ferry ride along the Brisbane River from the Convention Centre.

Fifty percent (50%) of the registration fee will be refunded for cancellations received 5 business days prior to the first day of the conference.
Cancellations received less than 5 business days prior to the first day of the conference are non-refundable.

Emails must be sent from the original registrants email address and include evidence of registration, and registration details for new registrant.
